PTB system

Usually, tone pots are installed with "linear" pots where as volume pot is installed with "audio" pots
but with PTB system on my legacy special, tone pots are "audio" tapered. Why would PTB system use "audio" taper for their tone pots?

Also, i am going to replace my original "audio" tone pots from PTB system to "linear" tone pots. Would this affect PTB system a lot? ( i really want PTB system to be as much as similar to original system after chaging pots to "linear" taper ones)
