Identifying my new classic

Mon Apr 29, 2024 12:56 am

I'm new to the G&L family. One thing I've noticed is through the years G&L is a bit inconsistent in their headstock markings. If I can figure out how to post photos I'd appreciate a bit of help on if mine is a USA or other.
Nope, no photos. Ok the front of my headstock has the G&L logo with guitars by Leo under it. Also say ASAT Classic. The back simply has a serial number. CLF51487. I took off the neck. On the neck it says AC MP #4 neck G nut and silver. On the body cavity it says June 10 2008. It does have a certificate of authenticity indicating it was made in Fullerton. The guitar is silver sparkle and has a humbucker in the neck and single coil in the bridge. I appreciate the help provided I gave enough information.

Definitely a made in Fullerton, USA guitar. The humbucker in the neck position is indicative of an ASAT Classic Bluesboy model. Other ASAT Classic guitars would have a single coil or MFD in the neck and bridge positions.

Congrats on getting a G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy. As we say, it does not exist without photo proof.
See this tutorial post: Tutorial: Posting photos.
Also see this post on serial numbering: Serial number significance.

Looking forward to seeing your G&L. :searching:

Newbie time. How can I post a pic?
Someone pinstriped in in memory of a fallen friend. Beyond that it's perfect

Craig, that is a great list. Seems odd that the Bluesboy models don't say bluesboy anywhere...Mine is the semi hollowbody in silver sparkle.
Trying to load pics this morning from my new flikr account.
Appreciate all the knowledge.

Thanks for the forum and guitar help. I managed to get a few photos on here albeit probably not the correct way?
I got the guitar from an older guy who had it pinstriped for a fallen biker friend. I initially had intentions of taking it off, but after meeting the dude and hearing the story, I told him I would keep the tribute work intact.

You have an extra url BBcode string in your photo posts. Just paste the BBCODE string from Flickr into your post,
like this:

This is what it will look like:

Very tasteful tribute to the previous owner's friend. I see that he also rotated the control plate, which many other ASAT Classic model owner do, too.
The Sperzel Locking tuners, Graph-Tech graphite nut, and #4 (1 11/16" nut width, 12" fretboard radius) neck are all options on this model.

Thanks for posting photos of your 2008 ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow.

Reason: Corrected #4 neck size for 2008 is 1 11/16" not 1 3/4".

Nice gtr! I’m sure Billy F. Gibbons would give his seal of approval on the pin striping!

Thanks John...I actually LOVE the pinstriping...However, the wing/tire/name part, is taking a bit to grow on me. This is a fine playing guitar. Very pleased.
Plus, I traded even for my Eastman T386. I told the guy I felt like this deal wasn't even, but he wanted the Eastman.
Not sure what the value of this G&L is but I am pretty sure it's more than my $800 Eastman.

Really nice looking guitar. Love the pinstriping. Like you, not fond of the wings/wheel thingy. But understand why you will keep it.
Enjoy your G&L!!

Hey Mike,

She’s a beauty!! Welcome to club.

As far as the wings and wheels, do you own/ride motorcycles?

I rode my entire life until 2018. Then bought a 73 Mustang instead. The wing and Boone will stay a while longer. It's what I get for having a heart for the fallen I suppose.

Great ride!

Interesting similarity is my first car was a kelly green 73 Mustang convertible!
