This is my candy lemon F-100 series II, serial number #G000945. The
finish is noteworthy for its extreme rarity. Vintage Guitar
columnist Paul Bechtoldt at one time indicated that as few as five
guitars may have made it out the door with the candy lemon finish,
though the latest figure I heard was that it may have been more in the
neighborhood of ten. Unfortunately the finish tends to be quite
similar visually to G&L's standard "gold" finish and the two are
frequently confused. The candy lemon finish has a very noticeable
"yellowish" tinge to it that doesn't appear in the standard gold
finish. (Compare the pics of this guitar with the pics of gold F-100s
elsewhere in the Gallery.)
This guitar's neck has very attractive flames and curl in the wood. It's been played very little and is in dead mint condition. |
