Why do I need to create a User Profile in order to participate on the site?
To be perfectly honest, the primary motivator behind the User Profiles is one of site security. In very rare, extreme circumstances, a User Profile can be forcefully revoked by myself; this would only occur in a case where a user is blatantly abusing the open, "free" nature of the interactive areas at the site.
On a more positive note, though, the User Profile is also a nice way that you can let us know a bit more about yourself and your interest in the site's subject matter. In this way we can add a bit more of a "human element" to the site, rather than being known entirely by our e-mail addresses. Though most fields of your User Profile are optional, I'd encourage you to complete them all!
I registered, but I never received an e-mail with an activation code - what should I do?
It's a very frequent occurrence for folks to supply incorrect e-mail addresses when registering. Sometimes they have typos, sometimes they are just plain incorrect all around. Please doublecheck your e-mail address, then click on Create Your Profile and try again. Also, if you use a Mail Filter, insure that 'mcdewey49@gmail.com' and 'webmaster@guitarsbyleo.com' are allowed email addresses. If you've tried a few times and still aren't having success, contact me.
What is a "handle" and why should I specify one?
Your handle is a short "nickname" that is displayed instead of your e-mail address whenever you participate on the various interactive areas of the site. There are many reasons you should specify a handle:
- E-mail addresses tend to be long, ugly, and not particularly memorable - choosing a unique handle will allow folks to immediately identify who you are. Try to choose something that will really "stick" in folks' minds.
- If your e-mail address should change later, the same handle can be used with the new address.
- Dealers can set their handles to the name of their store.
A few example handles (these are already taken, sorry ;-) ):

- Some folks set their handles to their full names: like Brad W. Traweek, for example.
If you do not explicitly specify a handle in your User Profile, your e-mail address will be used in its place; i.e., whereever your handle would have appeared your e-mail address will appear instead.
What do I do if I need to change my email address?
Please send your email address changes to: mcdewey49@gmail.com. Include both your old and new addresses. Also, indicate if you have a Marketplace Ad.
