Bone nut installation on a Legacy? posted by offplanetfilms on February 08, 2010 at 20:35:31:

I've been using Tusq pre slotted nuts on my guitars. They have all the sound of bone, but are more uniform and better for trems. You can find them on ebay for around $10 and install them yourself if you're a little handy. All you need is some 150 grit sandpaper to fit the height & width, and a dab of wood glue. I love em!
Make sure you score around the old nut with an x-acto knife first, then give it a gentle tap on the side to free it up.
