I squeezed (squoze?) 4 MFD single coils from an SC3 into my project F-100 and that gives me many options and still gives that MFD goodness. The only tricky part was fashioning custom pickup surrounds to accommodate the single coils.

Good to hear you have a nice stock F-100 as a benchmark to
compare with.
