: Lowender question: I am not a bass player by any means, but, I didn't want to go all week and not recognize any of you guys. Heres my question. It seems like most of the bass players I know are ex guitar players that switched, or play both. How many of you are strictly bass players.

To this point: I was watching a buddy of mine who gigs three times a week, play in Malibu, CA. He had a bass player sitting in with him that night who was playing what he called a "buitar", a six stringed bass. He sounded very good and really seemed to be enjoying himself. At break he said to me, "I'm really a frustrated guitar player. That's why I play this instrument." It gave him the option to play chords that he didn't have on a conventional bass. So, there seems to be veracity in your statement.
