Me. Although I own 2 G&L geetars I really only noodle around on them and typically I attack it like a bass player.
The mindset of a true bassist is quite a bit different than a guitar player switching over.
A guitar player on bass with think it is boring where a true bass player is intrigued by the groove of the song.
The old addage applies that bass players don't step out for a solo, they always solo. The bass either makes or breaks a song. Great bass playing you often don't hear but you feel.
Absolute best example I can think of to hear the bass step out and then back in is on the Judas Priest Unleashed in the East CD. Listen to Tyrant. Ian is locked in the groove for most, steps out for a bit, then drops right back in. Masterful stuff.
