Hi Russ, I too have a deep craving for an Epiphone Elitist, only a Casino rather than a L.P. I have been following comments, prices, etc., on them for a couple of years. I have read nothing but good things about them. I'm not positive but I believe that Gibson/Epiphone guitars may all be short scale necks. This is supposed to be good for those of us who don't have big hands. Of course, I admit to having this thing for the Casino to a great extent because of the Beatles connection. Anyway, I'd say go for the Elitist Les Paul. It probably offers similar bang for the buck as the Elitist Casino. Good luck to you.
