: Do tires last longer on the dirt or are there other factors that wear out tires as fast as an asphalt track?

Dirt track tires a very soft compared to asphalt tires. They come in different compounds from Very soft(think pencil eraser) to very hard. The amount of moisture in the track and how long of a race determines waht compound you want to use. The softer the tire the more grip, but, they wear out quicker. Generally the guys running up front are putting new rear tires on for every race.
