: Do you prefer the PTB system or would you rather have the conventional tone controls on your guitars? Personally I like the PTB. With tone controls I generally play them wide open all the time. With the PTB it allows me to roll off the bass a little and get a real nice tone.

I LOVE the PTB. I think if I ever bought a Strat, that would be the first thing I would change--add the PTB controls. I'd do it to a 3-knob Hamer, Flying V or an Explorer if I had the chance.

I set mine with the T=10, B=5; and then I set my amp with the maximum TREBLE and PRESENCE I want on the bridge pickup.

I can roll off the PTB Treble for smoky jazz tones, or roll up the Bass when I need to punch up a solo. I find that it kills the mids if both controls are set to 10.

The PTB works better on the guitars with the hotter pickups (S-500, Comanche, Legacy Special) than on the Legacy; but I love this system.

Great week, Slick. Loved the car shots.

Bill
