Picked up an F-100 last night locally. The guy was the original owner and though he played the crap out of it he took good care of it. All stock and complete right down to the strap buttons and trem arm, had the OHSC. The natural finish has aged to a beautiful honey color and has considerable weather-checking (which I dig). I cleaned it up and restrung it and the only negatives I can find are the top 5 frets need to be replaced and this guy apparently didn’t trim his nails as the fretboard has a few raw spots from some serious playing over the years. Also it weighs as much as a Country Squire staionwagon though I’m used to heavy guitars. Electronically speaking it sounds fab through my smaller amps at home. Will be interesting to hear it through my live rig at practice next week.

: I wasn’t really in the market for an F-100 but the price was too good to not at least go look at it. As soon as I opened the case I was sold. It was just one of those right-place-at-the-right-time deals. The guy bought it new in Feb of 1981, (date stamps are Dec 1980) played the hell out of it doing the bar circuit thing then put it back in the case and into the closet in 1992 and there it sat until last night. Love stories like this.

: Not sure what I’m going to do with it yet. If it sounds decent, doesn’t turn into a big feedback monster and the tuning is stable then I’ll use it in Cooper for a while I think.
