Using TONE control, right? Many modern styles leave it rolled all the way up. I usually find more TWANG cutting tone control with fairly bright amp setting...
Woods, bridges, pup's - all that has an influence - but IMO not nearly as much as light gauge setup axe and of course, INTENT of the player.
OMT - listen and steal as many twangy licks as you can!

: I put GHS Progressives on my Trinity and it was great for X, but lacked in other. With D'addario XL's it's plenty twangy. Not the Classic Custom twangy, but twangy enough to pass any live gig without changing out guitars.
