Lunch Report--Monday posted by Thundersteel on January 11, 2010 at 12:45:30:

: 2. G&L: To start off, I'll just show some pictures of my basses: an L-2000, and a JB-2. By the way, the neck on the L-2000 really isn't that yellow! Anyone else here "bottom feeders?"

Nice basses!

: 3. Discussion: A) G&L is Leo Fender's last company. He felt that these were the best instruments he made. Even so, some feel there could be room for improvement. What do you think could be improved? Construction? Design?

I'm with Emmitt on the jack thing on ASATs. There are superior jacks out there, so why not use them? I'm also at a loss as to why G&L continues to use plastic nuts. I've had to replace two of them on fairly new guitars due to breakage at the low "E" string. Granted, I use a slightly heavier set of strings than some (11-49), but that shouldn't be enough to break nuts. At the very least, G&L should be installing nuts of better quality. All in all, while I love G&L instruments just as they are, I wouldn't mind seeing some reissues of some earlier G&L guitars.

: B) How do you feel about pet alteration? For instance, do you get your cat declawed, and/or your dog's tail docked?

I'm not really much of a pet person anymore, so I guess I don't think about it much.

Great to have you doing the LR duties this week!

Jim
