Lunch Report--Monday posted by Thundersteel on January 11, 2010 at 12:45:30:

Discussion: A) G&L is Leo Fender's last company. He felt that these were the best instruments he made. Even so, some feel there could be room for improvement. What do you think could be improved? Construction? Design?

Great question. One that I'm sure Leo would ask. We all will probably agree on G&L's current build quality, but there's always room for improvement.

1. I second replacing the plastic nut that others commented on, at least on U.S. models.
2. Shielding. Unless G&L started shielding again on newer instruments that I'm unaware of... it's hard to comprehend a non shielded guitar in today’s modern world with so many electronic devices. U.S. models should be shielded.
3. As so many have mentioned in the past... a better fitting plastic hard case.
4. Although it's not the instruments themselves, advertising. G&L really tends to fail in promoting itself amongst other guitar companies. The advertisements fail in informing the instrument playing/buying community in both custom options/models available. As well as failing in embracing/educating the public on it's ancestry with Leo (how many times have any of us here found ourselves educating other players on this). And of course it needs to find some more well known players in the public eye to slip a G&L in the hands of. Let’s face it, a lot of younger players yearn to own/play what a favorite player plays.
