This is the very last "Signature" model guitar, designed with one goal
in mind: paying most sincere tribute to the life and contributions of
Mr. Leo Fender. Both a guitar and a bass were offered. The guitar is
essentially a "fancy" ASAT Classic with gold-colored hardware and
pickguard, a double-bound body, a bound birdseye neck, and Maxima gold
strings. While it was originally scheduled for a production of 1,000,
the production was cut short at 350. (Interestingly, though, the neck
plates on the guitars _do_ read "#X of 1000"). Most of these feature
a cherry sunburst body and maple fretboard, but exceptions do exist -
most noteworthy of those exceptions are a handful of lacewood-bodied,
ebony-fretboard guitars.
