I have looked and could not find any aftermarket pick ups on my google search

As far as I know, nobody nut G&L make Z-coil pups or Z-coil shaped pups for that matter. According to Craig's post, the Commanche has a bath-tub route. So you could get another pickguard and use 'ordinary' shaped pickups to change the configuration on your guitar.

A while ago there wer (hotter) Will Ray pickups(Z's)

The Will Ray Sig indeed has a hotter bridge Z-coil, but neck and middle are the 'standard' Z-coils. Unfortunately, the 'Will Ray' bridge pup is not available through the online store.
