Three times I have been mugged by a G&L instrument. The first, in 1986, occurred as I was shopping for a new guitar amp at Ward Brodt music in Madison WI. I hadn't brought my guitar to the store so I was pulling various models off the wall and one was a midnight blue SC-3. That was it. I sold off the Fender and the Gibson. Then in 1994 a friend and I were playing all the vintage basses at Real Guitars in SF. The last one he put in my hands was an early L-1000. It was the best of a highly pedigreed group of instruments and on consignment for $350! Again, out with the incumbent and in with the G&L. This bass inspired me to become a bass player. The most recent mugging took place in April of this year (2008). I went in to Chelsea guitars in NYC for a pick and walked out with a sparkly lime green ASAT from 1993. Watch out, these things can be dangerous!
