This site is about guitars so I'll bypass most of the info on my boring personal life. First off, I'm 53 years old, don't look 53 (didn't say I looked good - just not 53) and don't feel 53 either. In my very latest reincarnation I'm an Electronics Technician for a large school district here in Wisconsin. I've lived in several foreign countries and a "bunch" of states. I call rural Nevada my home and will return some day. Definitely not a "Vegas kind of guy"!
Now for the guitar part. I bought a Peavey T-60 about a year ago. Didn't play it. Then I bought a Mesa Boogie V-Twin pedal, didn't use it. Picked up the book "Guitar For Dummies" and didn't read it. Added a Laney LC15 amp to the collection. Now here's the turning point...I felt I really needed a guitar stand to display the guitar I didn't play. Once the guitar was out there on that stand, I actually started to practice! Getting that guitar out of the hardshell case made all the difference. Now my guitar is parked next to my computer and I can grab it anytime I want.
Musical influences: Of course there's all the usual ones, you know, Jimi, SRV, Buddy, Eric, The person that got me actually thinking that maybe I could be a guitarist was Mavis Beacon. Who? You may have seen the instructional software "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing"? Well that program gave me the confidence to try the guitar. How's that you ask? Back in 1996 I used that software to learn how to touch type. I had been "hunting and pecking" all my life. Now I could get all 10 fingers to do what I wanted them to do! Astonishing! That got me thinking. If I could learn to type, hell I could play the guitar!
Just bought a G&L and life is good.
