Caption: Me and some basses (left to right): All my G&Ls: 1984 El Toro Bass (fretless), 198? L-5000, 1984 SB-2 (first style) ...and... 2001 DeArmond Ashbory Bass (dinky, huh?!) Not pictured: 198? Martin EB-28 solidbody bass SB-1 w/ MFD added
I've been a huge G&L fan since about 1990 when I played a new (at the time) signature ASAT Bass in a store. The sound was awesome and it also had a non-contoured back which is my preference.

I've recommended G&L basses for years and people said "If they're so great, why don't you have one?" which ended when I bought the SB-2 in 2000. The first style SB-2, the first style SB-1, and the earlier ASAT Basses are the only G&L models with slab backs.

I've since picked up an El Toro fretless, a really nice bass that seems to lose out to the little Ashbory Bass (next to in the picture above) for fretless time (a shame, it really is a nice fretless bass guitar) and more recently the L-5000 in the middle. The L-5000 is pretty cool.

Not pictured is my fairly rare C.F. Martin EB-28 bass that I dropped (no routing) a G&L split SB-1 MFD pickup in the front. It's a nice piece of lumber that stock was losing out to the SB-2 but the MFD leveled the field.

Leo Fender was really into improving upon his earlier designs and the MFD pickups, Saddlelock bridges, and bi-cut necks to me make the G&L basses a bit extra special.

Outside of G&L, I'm a big fan of Ashbory basses, 8 string basses, I have a couple 4 string guitars (which are regular scale guitars modded to 4 strings), a really unusual modded Seagull 12 string acoustic guitar that's four sets of three strings (tuned E, A, D, and G), and some other odds and ends.

Oh, and about the picture: I have a guitar hanging wall in my house! It took some talking but it got done. I'm a bit of a gearhead, with about 14 stringed instruments and the occasional cheap keyboard. I'm also pretty cheap, having never spent more than $550 (USA Hamer 8 string Bass Guitar) on anything.
