I'm kind of an old fart at 53. 60s garage band survivor. Played Jap no-namers, then Hagstroms, finally Fenders. Wish I still had my '63 Jazz- master. Played a lot of rock&roll in unfriendly Long Island bars. Got tired of it in my 20s but kept on playing, mostly acoustic. Started playing alot of electric again about 15 yrs ago, as well as lap steel. Write songs. Play & record my own demos mostly for my own enjoyment (and the annoyance of others). Not a virtuoso, but competent. Play with fingers & thumbpick. I like Merle Travis, Mark Knopfler, Cindy Cashdollar, Neil Young, Jerry Garcia.. stuff like that. Own quite a bit of older yet not particularly valuable stuff, including a Butterscotch ASAT Classic. The ASAT is the newest electric I've got, also the best playing. The oldest is a tie between a '43 Gibson L-50 and a Dickerson lapsteel of similar (but unknown) vintage. I don't keep playing because it pays, I play because I have to. I bought the ASAT because I was too dumb to buy a great '55 Tele from a friend 30 years back, and the ASAT is everything a Tele would've been if Leo had been able to hang on to the company. Made with care to exacting specs, everything you need and nothing you don't.
