I'm a real estate broker in Southern California.
I first picked up a guitar in March of 2004 and haven't put it down for more than 8 hours since. I discovered G&L when I went to buy an amp and the seller let me use his S-500 to test it out. The neck and action just felt right. I knew I had to have one. What I didn't know is that I'd have to have 9+.
My first love is windsurfing, although playing the guitar and singing are snapping at it's heels now. I'm 53 years old and windsurfing in the ocean is pretty physically demanding at a time when my body is less likely to yield to all such demands. Hopefully, my body will stay intact enough to continue both for many more years. Realistically, guitar will be taking over my free time, despite what the wind and waves are doing, in not too many years.
Prior to guitar/singing, I collected antique American pocket watches. I learned how to do my own servicing on them, much the way I do setups, string changes, minor service on my guitars. I do the same on my cars. Pocket watches are cool. I shared this hobby with the late Dr. Paavo Zakin, early member of the board here. Paavo had a really neat S-500 that he custom painted with the stylized, free-flowing writing that graced a very popular, quality railroad grade pocket watch called a "Bunn Special". Had he not have repainted it, I would have bought it, as is.
I'm not dead yet. I hope to do something special with music before I am. Time will tell, one way or the other.
