From a post on CLF Research's facebook page (4/25/2025):
The guys are unloading a 40-foot container of G&L Tribute Series instruments.
Each carton is a 6-pack and I used to sling these too when I was a younger man.

I bought a Doheny online back in February. At the time of sale I was notified that the retailer didn't have that model in stock, and had ordered it on my behalf, and that I should expect it to ship in 2-4 months. Early this month, I received another email letting me know that there would be an additional delay of another 2-4 months.

When I saw this post, I had to re-adjust my thinking.

I was picturing the factory in Indonesia sending my guitar to the online retailer, who in turn would send it to me.

Now I am thinking that maybe the factory in Indonesia sends it first to the US G&L factory, who then distributes it to the online seller, who then sends it to me.

Do I understand this process correctly?

Yes, that is correct. The factory inspects and does a final setup on the instruments before they are sent to the dealers.
