Hello from Massachusetts

Post by aryp »

Hello from Massachusetts!

I've been playing guitar for more than 25 years, mostly to a very local audience, specifically kids, wife, dogs and, well, myself. Yes, I am a bedroom guitar superstar!

I own two G&Ls, an ASAT Classic Bluesboy, few years old, and a Skyhawk from the 80s.

Glad to be on here to learn and share stories and adventures of these beautifully made instruments. Links to pics of each are below. Looks like you need to open them in another tab.

welcome! nice gtrs. the skyhawk is cool with the sickle headstock and the fine tuner bridge/tailpiece. those are rare.
i have an '84 skyhawk, black, Jan '84, right after they made the name switch from the nighthawk. amazing guitar.

Thanks.

This Skyhawk has a couple of special features. There are 2 switches aside from the usual 5-way and volume/tones pots.

One of them is the Expander switch (https://glguitars.com/expander-switch/). When engaged:
Position 1 and 5, combines Neck and Bridge
Position 2 and 4, combines all 3 pickups
Position 3, no change, just middle pickup.

The second switch changes wiring between parallel and series.

Tons of tonal options.

Welcome. Nice axes. I am fond of ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-hollow guitars. That Skyhawk looks killer.

The Bluesboy was my first G&L and I agree, it's a fantastic instrument. It's such a simple, high quality and tone rich guitar. It's my number 1.
