NGD Custom Creation ASAT variety

Well folks when ya gotta, ya gotta, and I couldn't let this one get away. The good folks at Guitar Center Denver had this beauty online and I had to rescue her. I think I will set up the "G&L ASAT Rescue Society" to save all the forgotten and abandoned ASAT's out there.

The P90 aspect along with it being a Custom Creation 1 of 100 Korina Collection were the big draw. It's a Korina Collection ASAT Junior II. I have a Tribby with P90's but these are in a different league. Could be the Korina body as well. Had it shipped to my local Guitar Center and picked up today. This is a thing of beauty, and it sounds so sweet. Basically, mint condition. Only downside was no case or case candy and certificate. 8.2 lbs of tone. Spent the last three hours playing everything from Social Distortion, Nugent, to Will Ray stuff and this doesn't miss a beat. Weight, balance, neck feel are all right on. Never really being a P90 guy I am learning some of the clarity and growl these can put out. Was a Fender amp today, will run through Mesa Boogie Lone Star Special tomorrow for a different flavor.

From the GC ad, shows wood color better. That's a shadow on the neck not stain.

(side note - if you buy a guitar from GC out of state I highly recommend sending to a local GC if you have one. Any issues damage or electrical can be addressed right there, no hassle with "how did it happen". One time had a damaged G&L bass delivered to GC and it was addressed immediately)

Nice rescue, Sam! Those Korina Collection guitars always tempt me.

Thanks for tip on shipping to GC store. I've done that twice, but my nearest GC is an hour away. The bunch I had shipped directly arrived safely. (Though one was sheer luck: the guitar didn't have a case, but they threw it a box with NOTHING to wrap it, pad it, protect it, etc. Just the box and a loose guitar. Crazy.)

Thank you sir! The korina has tempted me and a lot based on our #1 enabler jos’ webpage yowhatshakin and his details on this model.

Regarding shipping, this shipment was guitar only but the Denver GC was great, they wrapped guitar, neck headstock separately with bubble wrap and more paper wrapping in the box, highly recommended. The bass I mentioned, and do not recall where from, was in the case but nothing inside the case which resulted in a chipped headstock. Being delivered to local GC I opened it there, pointed out damage and got refund immediately.

Had similar issue with a Reverb purchase delivered to my house, and after some Reverb assistance got refunded.

My “local” GC is about 30 minutes away so not too bad. Just passing on helpful tips to avoid and debates on guitars delivered. Rock on!
