I have seen some super G&Ls posted here recently, especially some lefties. There are some beauties owned by this group. I am without a camera until Friday and is isn't easy. Today I am going to talk about project guitars. Two years ago I bought a couple of new guitars at the GC that were damaged. One was a BC Rich JRV Deluxe with the real Floyd and the other a Fender Tele Thinline 72 reissue. The Tele had a large chip in the bottom by the strap pin and the JRV had been dropped on one point with damage to the wood, paint and binding. My grand daughter was with me and told me I should buy them and fix them. They made an offer and I bought them dirt cheap. They had been sitting around for two years like some other project guitars that I have. A week ago last Saturday, I stopped at AG&B and they had this new SC-2 that had my name on it. This motivated me to restore the two guitars on Monday, both of them turned out excellent, the JRV repair was undetectable and the Tele had a very slight, almost undetectable clear coat blend line which can be buffed out in a month. The bottom line is I doubled my money on them and made a full disclosure to the store as to what I had done. The Tele sold within two hours. I did the repair with nitro and it is great for touch up although will not last like poly. I will post pictures of the SC-2 this weekend. The Question, do you have project guitars and show them if they are done, and second question is would you buy a G&L that had restoration done to it if the owner disclosed what had been done??? By the way, I had a couple of G&Ls which i would have fixed but traded both of them and the stores considered them pristine. Saved me some work!
I received a video of our Sept 11 Edge show today and was very pleased with the show. I wish I knew how to post videos and I would post some cuts. Kelly, our new singer was awesome so I will try to figure this out and post in the future. One of our songs, "Mrs Brown You Have A Lovely Daughter" was change to "Mrs Brown You Have A Lovely Walker", understandable at our age and it got a lot of laughs. Have a great evening-- Darwin
