They're actually not flimsy at all and the saddles have both perfect intonation and string spacing which really surprised me. They're very well designed and I'd recommend them any day over standard, non-compensated saddles. I actually play many of the same styles of music you're playing, and yeah, even some country on occasion, too. My primary band is more of a blues group, but we do some R&B and a touch of jazz as well. It's called "Otis & the Alligators." If you "google the name, you'll find us all over the place. I'm also playing in two other bands; one is another blues band, and the other is a jazz fusion group I play with on occasion. I'm normally an architect by trade, but with the economy as it's been, I've resorted to playing music much more within the last three years or so. However, I did manage to find some work the last few months, and with gigs being booked before then, I've been literally swamped. Although, things will lighten up in a few weeks.How about you? I hope things come good for you professionally. I took the economic slump as a cue to get out of the manual labour jobs I'd been doing since high school and get a degree. It's optional to have an f-hole on G&Ls. IMO the f-hole they use is too small and looks out of proportion with the rest of the guitar. If you look at a Fender thinline you'll notice that the f-hole intrudes to where the pickguard would be, and requires a different shape so as not to overlap it:
