Hey guys, have this in my possession. I presume the aluminum guard and black hardware dates it around 1988? I got this used 10 years ago and can't find the receipt.
Does anyone know a fair asking price for this?

The model name is "ASAT" not "ASAT special". See:
List of Regular Production ASAT-style guitars (USA) .
To help determine value, see:
Is there a good source for getting G&L instrument values? .
Please do add your ASAT to our
G&L Registry , too.

The easiest thing to do is use the number on the neckplate and go here:

Is it just me or is yours missing the bullet end on the truss rod? Other than the maple neck it looks identical to my '88 ASAT.

I just realized that. I'm not sure if it got stripped or it came like that.

Can you see the tip of the bullet/truss rod or is it completely missing? Also what is the finish of the neck - is it gloss finish or more of a satin finish?
Cheers,
KF

I found out its actually a 1991 production year model.
Its just completely missing. The neck is glossy.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement truss rod bullet? Is it universal?

I suggest you contact Ben Rush (G&L Repairs/Tech Support). His contact information is on the G&L Support page:
http://www.glguitars.com/support/index2.asp .
Hope this helps.
