Question about Quarter Sawn Necks

I just ordered a custom Legacy with Clear Rrange Empress and White Pearl pickguard - the next 6-8 weeks are gonna go by really slow

Anyways...

I have a quarter sawn maple neck on a Wildwood 10 Custom Shop Strat and man does it look sweet. A big part of the sweetness is that they didn't use a separate piece of wood for the fretboard, hence the quarter sawn grain shows through on the fretboard (on the front).

Does anyone know if G&L does this as well with their quarter sawn maple necks, or do they use a separate piece of maple for the fretboard? It'd be a shame to cover up the quarter sawn grain on the front of the guitar.

I looked through the Forum and didn't see any pics zoomed in enough to indicate one way or the other.

No, G&L don't do that, they use a separate piece of wood for the fingerboard.

The Maple fretboard is sliced from the neck and routed for the truss-rod, truss-rod inserted and then the fretboard is glued onto the neck.

Actually, if I read this right, they cut the fretboard from the neck, so the fret board will have the quarter-sawn wood pattern. If so, cool!!!!
