Noisy CLF era L2500

Post by Randy S »

I have a noisy CLF era L2500. Going to replace the chip. If that doesn't do it, is a later model preamp worth a try?
I've had this bass all apart a few years back for shielding, and it was quiet after that for a few years. It will get a close inspection when I change out the chip in a few days.

Anybody else encounter this?

Is it noisy with other amplifiers and in other locations? I had a noise issue that turned out to be my old Fender amp not getting along with CFL can lights in my house.

Changed the chip, went over the wiring and ground continuity, and still has the buzz and touch pop.

Scratching my head on this one.

In today's episode, I took the battery out and it still buzzed.

Went around the room, unplugging everything.
Turned the lighting dimmer off and it is quiet.

I should know better than that.

I did have noise reports from the last board I was plugged into.
Maybe the chip took care of that.
